Environmental sensitisation for Tibetans studying in India
A group of 15 selected youths from various Tibetan settlements across India and
Bhutan, and also from Tibet proper, currently studying at the Tibetan Homes School (THS) and the Central School for Tibetans (CST),
Mussoorie, ended a week long ecology and environmental sensitisation programme. The programme included several learning modules (issues mainly related to forests conservation, poaching, wildlife crime, etc.) as well as field tours of two Indian natural parks, including the Corbett National Park, one of India’s major Tiger reserves. The programme, a joint initiative by THS and Winterline Nature Trust (WNT), took place for a second year. Discussions between THS, CST and WNT are being held on how to expand the programme, and other
ways to achieve broader impact.
