Geological map of the Tibet Plateau finished
(Xinhua) The China Geological Survey says it has finished mapping territory on the Tibetan Plateau. On a scale of 1:250,000, the map marks the completion of the mapping of the People's Republic of China (PRC). The project was begun in 1999 and Chinese topographers claim to have mapped 1.52 million square km. A total of 110 subdivision maps on a scale of 1:250,000 have been completed. These will be instrumental in resource exploration, land layout, environmental protection, key project planning and construction, as well as scientific research in geology.
