Rare public protest in Lhasa
RFA reports that hundreds of Tibetan graduates have staged a public protest in Lhasa over alleged discrimination by Chinese authorities in hiring for civil service jobs. No violence was reported and no one was arrested in the weeklong protest held in front of the TAR government offices and the Department of Education in late October. Although different sources reported different versions of the details and background to demonstrations to RFA, it appears that the outcomes of Civil service examinations conducted on 30 September by the TAR government in Lhasa have sparked the protest.
