Tourism to Tibet increasing
(Xinhua) According to official figures from the authorities in the TAR, 1.71 million tourists visited the region in the first 10 months of 2005, an increase of 46% over the same period in 2004. Of those, 113,396 were overseas visitors, 30% more than 2004, and the TAR collected 1.87 billion yuan (UK£134m; US$230m; EUR€196m) in tourist revenue from January through to October, the regional bureau of tourism in Lhasa said.
