Tibetan nomads set fire to Chinese slaughterhouse in Sichuan
(RFA) Hundreds of Tibetan nomads in Kandze prefecture (Chin. Ganzi) ransacked and burned a Chinese-owned slaughterhouse, prompting arrests during a local Tibetan horse race festival. The Tibetans, were said to be angry because the owners pressured them to sell their animals, at below-market prices. They freed animals and set fire to the building. It is said that between 50 and 60 Tibetans have been taken into custody.
