Potala Palace plaza renovation project finished
Xinhuanet reported that the completion of the Potala Palace plaza renovation project was celebrated in Lhasa on Saturday 20 August. The project commenced in March and has been completed in time for the imminent celebration of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Tibet Autonomous Region. According to Jampa Phuntsog (Chin. Qiangba Puncog), Chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Regional Government, "The repaired plaza is a combination of modernity and Tibetan cultural features". Covering 18 hectares, the new square includes brick-paving, a musical fountain and broadcasting facilities.
