Manhae Grand Prize for Peace awarded to the Dalai Lama
Mr. Chope Paljor Tsering, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Japan and East Asian countries received the 2005 Korean Manhae Grand Prize for Peace award on behalf of Dalai Lama at Backdam Temple in Gangwon Province of South Korea. The Manhae Grand Prize is one of the most prestigious prizes in Korea. It is given to honor the spirit of Manhae, a Korean Buddhist monk and poet (1879-1944) who devoted most of his life to the independence of his homeland.
