Tibetan monks and nun arrested for political poster
RFA reports that the Chinese authorities in a Tibetan region of Gansu province have arrested three monks and one nun for putting up a poster calling on Beijing to start a dialogue with the Dalai Lama. The four were identified as Thargyal from Arig, Jamyang Samdup from Drakmar, Sherab, and Chokyi Dolma, a nun from Gomang township. Their whereabouts are unknown. According to RFA’s sources, two other nuns whose names were unknown had also been arrested in April for the same reason. Family members suspect that the arrested nuns and monks were detained in a jail in Kanlho. Relatives were denied permission to visit them in prison, but officials offered to hand over money from the family to the prisoners.
