China and India hold border talks in Beijing
(AP) China and India opened a second round of talks aimed at ironing out difficulties over their disputed borders and strengthening their strategic partnership. Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran met China’s Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei in Beijing, Sanjay Verma, an Indian Embassy spokesman said. A decades-old dispute over their shared border and military strategy would be among the topics discussed, Verma said. He declined to give further details. Mr Saran also met China’s Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo before returning to New Delhi. A further round of talks is scheduled for late February 2006.
